Airships are steerable aerostats. They are divided into three types:
-
non-rigid, or blimps (the hull consists of a special fabric envelope containing lifting gas);
-
semi-rigid (built on the base of a framework made of aviation alloys and materials and usually placed in the lower part of the construction);
-
rigid (the envelope is made of metal and serves as a load-bearing framework, special impenetrable gas-cells with lifting gas are placed inside).
State-of-the-art airship building in Russia as well as abroad is characterized by the lasting interest in small- and medium-volume airships, because the demand is mostly associated with commercial projects, which do not require employment of informational/advertising tools on wide areas. In the nearest future, application field of airships will enhance; they will enter the niche of passenger and cargo transportation, rescue works, tourism, etc. Drawing on innovative experience and developments of Russian engineers, the Augur - Aerostatic Systems Company creates airships on par with international standards. Their marketability is expressed in cost, operation expenses, simple piloting, easy maintenance and storage. By estimations of specialists, advertising via airships is most efficacious. This is why a compact airship in advertising business has became an integral part of sports and entertainment events, exhibitions and presentations.
World leaders in this industry using airships as a multipurpose means are such companies as Goodyear (USA) and Fuji (Japan). Designers and engineers of the Augur - Aerostatic Systems Company constantly study experience gathered by the best airship-builders and improve lighter-than-air vehicles which equal the worlds best specimens.
